Ameer Abdullah stunned many when he announced he would return to Nebraksa for his senior season. Abdullah cited completing his degree as motivation, but he also appeared to be coming off the ultimate resume-building campaign: the 5’9″, 195-pound back tallied almost 1,700 yards as a junior — picking up yardage at a 6.0 YPC clip — and hauled in 26 receptions.
Instead of playing on Sundays this fall, Ameer will look to add to his legacy as the first Husker RB to have three 1,000 yard seasons. Abdullah also leads all active FBS backs in career 100-yard games with seventeen.
Additionally, Abdullah will work to secure his status as the top senior RB in the 2015 NFL Draft, something he’s likely to achieve if he avoids injury. He’s clearly the Huskers’ most important player on the field and also exemplary off of it, leading in the locker room and working hard in the classroom.
