The most controversial pick of the 2017 NFL draft, and arguably of any draft in recent memory, was Cincinnati Bengals second-round selection Joe Mixon, the first-round worthy running back from Oklahoma.
Mixon’s backstory is well-documented. He fell in the draft for good reason. You can read about it here.
Long story short, Mixon punched a woman in the face at a Norman, Oklahoma restaurant, resulting in several broken bones and one hard-to-watch video.
Bengals fans — and NFL fans in general — will face the uncomfortable reality of cheering (maybe?) for Mixon next season; It’ll be a true battle between one’s moral compass and sports fanaticism.
For now, Mixon is doing everything he can to ready himself for NFL play. He’s set to train with one of the best running backs in Oklahoma history, and a sure-fire NFL Hall of Famer, Adrian Peterson.
Mixon and Peterson will work out together for two weeks prior to the start of training camp.
“It’ll be fun,” Mixon said via ESPN. “He’s going to push me and I’ll push him.”
Mixon has a very good chance at earning the starting job in Cincinnati this season and will be running with a lot to prove not only on the field, but in the community as well.
