Week 13 Fantasy Blitzkrieg

Written by Andrew Miley
Jimmy Graham

Every week during the season, I will throw out some observations of the previous NFL week. With the invention of the DVR and Directv’s ”Quick Bits”, I am able to watch almost every snap of selected games and give you a lightning “blitz” war “krieg” to bring to your fantasy league for domination. Bring on the games!

I am starting with my beloved Steelers against the Bengals.  The Bengals defense started off playing well as they held the Steelers to a three and out on the first and second series.  The Bengals offense was aggressive to start.  In the first big play of the day, Ike Taylor had blown coverage against AJ Green.  Green glided across the field and Taylor couldn’t keep up which resulted in a 43 yard gain. The AJ Green (6 catches for 87 yards and a TD) vs. Taylor (6 tackles, 3 passes defended and Keep Reading…

The Lions met the Packers for the first Thanksgiving game.  The 27-15 score doesn’t tell the entire story.  Green Bay led 24-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter and let off the gas in the 4th quarter.  Matt Stafford’s performance of 32 completions from 45 attempts, 276 yards passing and 1 TD, look good once you remove the 3 interceptions he threw.  Kevin Smith ran well until he suffered an ankle injury (10 touches for 57 yards) and Maurice Morris Keep Reading…

In the battle of the AFC North, the Steelers took on the Bengals.  The Steelers jumped to a quick 14 point advantage and held on to win 24 to 17.  Super rookie AJ Green had a single catch, a 36 yard TD, before leaving due to a lower leg injury.  It was another amazing catch as he caught it in between the Steelers starting safeties.  Andy Dalton looked efficient throwing the short passes, but only completed 50% of his passes for 170 yards with 2 TDs and 2 interceptions.  Andrew Hawkins Keep Reading…

The Falcons game against the Colts was hardly a game.  Atlanta jumped to a 14-0 advantage early on and never looked back.  The Colts only score was a short interception return by CB Jerraud Powers.  Delone Carter had the first 2 carries of the game, the second which he fumbled and then he didn’t come back until the 4th quarter.  Donald Brown took advantage of the rookie as he had 16 carries for 70 yards of which most were on draws and designed to get the ball carrier in space.  Austin Keep Reading…

The Jags (14) vs. the Texans (24) score is closer than how the game actually played out.  Both teams did a great job defending the run early.  Blaine Gabbert was knocked around and briefly left the game.  His numbers don’t show (33% completion rate, 97 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions) that Gabbert was better at not sensing imaginary pressure.  He did, however, try to force the ball where the defense didn’t allow it. MJD was ineffective early, but kept on grinding for 74 yards with a 4 yard TD on Keep Reading…
