Week 2 Fantasy Blitzkrieg

September 20, 2011

Every week during the season, I will throw out some quick observations on the previous NFL week. With the invention of the DVR and Directv’s ”Quick Bits”, I am able to watch almost every snap of every game and give you a lightning “blitz” war “krieg” to bring to your fantasy league for domination. Bring on the games!

I won’t lie, this game made me feel better than the Steelers game last week. The Steelers took care of the Seattle Seahawks at home. Mike Wallace had a great game, catching 8 passes for 126 yards and a TD on 9 targets. Ben Roethlisberger did a good job spreading the ball around and almost threw for 300 yards with 1 touchdown. Antonio Brown was the second leading receiver, and he mad the most of his opportunities going 4-67 yards. The running game wasn’t spectacular with 19-66 yards and 1 TD for Rashard Mendenhall, along (read more…)

Week 1 Fantasy Blitzkrieg: Part II

September 14, 2011

Every week during the season, I will throw out some quick observations of the previous NFL week. With the invention of the DVR and Directv’s ”Quick Bits”, I am able to watch every snap of every game and give you a lightning (blitz) war (krieg) to bring to your fantasy league for domination. Bring on the games!

The Rams certainly suffered more than their share of injuries.  Steven Jackson looked amazing on his huge TD run, then left after his second carry.  Danny Amendola came out ready to be the PPR machine but then injured his elbow so bad that the networks wouldn’t re-air it.  S-Jax’s injury looks to be of the short kind and Amendola may be back in October.  Caddy Williams took over for the Rams and looked good after getting rid of the rust.  If you need a RB for a week or so, you could do worse. Sam Bradford looked human under constant pressure; hopefully, that will change real soon.  LeSean McCoy was used (read more…)

Week 1 Fantasy Blitzkrieg: Part I

Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees had great nights. The real story was who stepped up during that matchup. Jordy Nelson had a good night with 6-77 yards and a TD. Randall Cobb had a receiving TD in limited action and a huge kickoff return TD. Robert Meachem had 5-70 yards with a TD and two drops. Devery Henderson had 6-100 yards and a TD. Running back Darren Sproles had 7-75 yards receiving and added a long punt return for a TD. At least in the beginning, all three Saint running backs will (read more…)

Preseason Final Week Blitzkrieg Part 2

September 5, 2011

Every week during the preseason and season, I will throw out some quick observations of the previous NFL week. With the invention of the DVR and Directv’s ”Quick Bits”, I am able to watch every snap of every game and give you a lightning “blitz” war “krieg” to bring to your fantasy league for domination. The fake games have ended, so bring on some real football!

After less than a minute of watching the Seattle o-line, it was clear that they struggle to run block and that TE Zach Miller may be stuck doing that for often than not. Oakland’s Michael Bush ran strong, but didn’t make any plays that his o-line didn’t create for him. Leon Washington looked to be a better back than Justin Forsett. Charlie Whitehurst played better than Tavaris Jackson, but the level of competition was lacking. Taiwan Jones heard footsteps in his 2nd preseason (read more…)

Well, Andy Dalton looked better for some of the game vs. the Broncos. Too bad, it was until he had to throw in tight spaces (the end zone especially), which means Dalton will need to master that skill to continue playing Sundays. Shipley was more active so it seems Dalton has found a safety blanket in him. Delone Carter is still having issues blocking in the passing game. He may be a fantasy option later in the season, but not now. Also, Kerry (read more…)

Preseason Week 3 Blitzkrieg Part 2: Soaked

Every week during the preseason and season, I will throw out some quick observations of the previous NFL week. With the invention of the DVR and Directv’s ”Quick Bits”, I am able to watch every snap of every game and give you a lightning “blitz” war “krieg” to bring to your fantasy league for domination. “Yes, I made it through the rain, I kept myself protected.” Here is Blitzkrieg Preseason Week 3, Part Two.

I might be crazy, but every time I see Eric Decker in his #87 Broncos jersey, I’m thinking Ed McCaffery and it is starting to show more on the field. Denver LB DJ William’s elbow injury that sidelines him for 3-4 weeks will cause big ripples in IDP leagues. Leon Washington sure has a little wiggle left and he may have won himself the 3rd down role. Tavaris Jackson is looking like a non-fantasy factor (read more…)

Preseason Week 3 Blitzkrieg Part 1 (maybe ?)

August 28, 2011

Every week during the preseason and season, I will throw out some quick observations of the previous NFL week. With the invention of the DVR and Directv’s “Quick Bits”, I am able to watch every snap of every game and give you a lightning “blitz” war “krieg” to bring to your fantasy league for domination. Now, some of you may take issue to my “maybe” in the title of the article. The truth is Hurricane “Irene” may cause me to be unable to watch the remaining games on satellite, but I will do my best to get Part 2 out. And on with our show:

Washington’s Tim Hightower looks amazing and his value is going through the roof. Don’t buy him high. If I already owned him, I would hold him for the first month and trade him to the highest bidder. R-Rated aka Ray Rice looks awesome. Lee (read more…)

Cleveland QB Colt McCoy looked ready to command the passing offense even with limited options available. New hybrid WR/TE Evan Moore, often injured, played well. McCoy is continuing to build rapport with Moore and rookie WR Greg Little.

If you have Nate Burleson down as a sleeper, it might be a little too late. He is a legitimate #3 fantasy WR. Stafford has looked good so far and I say that with much hesitation as who knows how long he will last into the season. On that same line of reasoning, Jahvid Best (read more…)

The Patriots 3-TE set was very effective against the Bucs. It is typically a run first formation, but it is used to perfection as a passing formation. Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski owners rejoice.

Legarrette Blount isn’t being used as a three down running back. Please use caution in moving him up your draft boards.

Despite losing two offensive linemen, the Steelers looked sharp against the Eagles, especially in the passing game. Antonio Brown looked good, but still will struggle to see the field once Emmanuel Sanders is healthy. Roethlisberger is now checking down (read more…)

Blaine “Sunshine” Gabbert was decent in his debut and was targeting Jason Hill a lot. Garrard better heal that back up, soon. Rashard Jennings looked quick/smooth hitting the hole. Draft him in the 10th round for depth.

Aaron Hernandez looked healthy catching passes, but be careful as he fumbled twice and Gronk didn’t play.

Phillip Rivers and Vincent Jackson didn’t waste anytime. With Gates banged up, look for V-Jax to be very active this year.

Tarvaris Jackson needs to stop dancing and get rid of the ball earlier with two rookie (read more…)
