Scouting Report: Tyron Smith

Written by Chad Davis

Tyron Smith

Position: OT School: USC Height: 6’5" Weight: 307 lbs Class: Junior 40 time: – All-Star Game: n/a Team Captain: No Draft Projection: Early-Mid 1st Round

Summary

Tyron Smith is a long, athletic offensive tackle with a body in the Bruce Campbell mold. He has played almost his entire career at USC on the right said, but is a natural fit to slide to the left side in the NFL. Smith’s athleticism makes him a perfect fit in a zone blocking scheme, but he has the upside to play left tackle in most any offense. He is relatively inexperienced, extremely young (20) and recently pulled out of the NFL combine while still recovering from a knee injury, which was slightly disappointing. So there are a lot of issues that need to be ironed out with Smith. But he has the highest upside of any offensive Keep Reading…

Scouting Report: Akeem Ayers

Written by Chad Davis

Akeem Ayers

Position: OLB School: UCLA Height: 6’2 1/2" Weight: 254 lbs Class: RS-Junior 40 time: 4.80 All-Star Game: n/a Team Captain: 2010 Draft Projection: Mid-Late 1st Round

Summary

Akeem Ayers is a talented redshirt junior linebacker who has the versatility to play multiple positions. While he doesn’t excel in one single area, he is a solid all-around player. He has limited upside but with the potential to be a nice contributor right away in the league. His NFL combine numbers were a little weak (4.80 40-yard dash, 18 bench press reps, 7.49 three-cone drill) which confirms what is shown on field. He lacks true explosion as a pass rusher, lacks instincts in the running game, and needs to physically get stronger at his size. But after all that, what Ayers does well is make plays. He can get to the quarterback, cover well, and his Keep Reading…

Scouting Report: Cameron Jordan

Written by Chad Davis

Cameron Jordan

Position: DE School: California Height: 6’4 1/8" Weight: 287 lbs Class: Senior 40 time: 4.78 All-Star Game: Senior Bowl Team Captain: None Draft Projection: Top 20

Summary

Cameron Jordan’s stock has been on the rise ever since the end of the college football season. He was dominant at the Senior Bowl when facing some of the top offensive tackles in this class, and has worked his way into potential top-10 consideration in the draft. His versatility is truly key as he should be able to play equally well in a 4-3 or 3-4 scheme, and on top of that he has the ability to play multiple positions on the line. Jordan’s game is well rounded yet he will not wow anyone with amazing stats. He is a do-it-all type player that understand the game of football and has the potential to be a Pro Keep Reading…

Scouting Report: Rahim Moore

Written by Chad Davis

Rahim Moore

Position: FS School: UCLA Height: 5’11 3/4" Weight: 202 lbs Class: Junior 40 time: 4.62 All-Star Game: None Team Captain: 2010 Draft Projection: 2nd Round

Summary

Rahim Moore used a breakout 2009 season to vault his way onto NFL Draft boards. A free safety with good size, Moore has ball skills that are unmatched in this class of safeties. His ball skills combined with great hands and great speed easily put Moore at the top of this class. A junior season which saw his interception total drop from 10 to just 1 has many scouts questioning whether Moore is a one-year wonder. While that remains to be seen, the skill set he possesses should quite easily land Moore in the 2nd round as the first safety taken.

Moore’s ball skills are truly top notch. He has great hands (he played wide Keep Reading…
