Scouting Report: Greg Little

Written by Ryan Lownes

Greg Little

Position: WR School: North Carolina Height: 6’2 1/2" Weight: 231 lbs Class: Senior 40 time: 4.53 All-Star Game: No Team Captain: No Draft Projection: Late 2nd – Early 4th Round

Summary

Greg Little is among this draft class’ most physically gifted receiver. Despite below average college production at the position, he appeared to be a player poised for a big breakout before a suspension took his Senior season away. It remains to be seen whether he will learn from his past mistakes and mature as a person. Regardless, Little has the talent to make an impact early at the next level, likely in the short to intermediate passing game. He has the ability to develop into an upper-echelon receiver in the NFL but so much depends on his decision making and his standing with his coaches.

Scouting Report: Titus Young

Written by Ryan Lownes

Titus Young

Position: WR School: Boise State Height: 5’11 3/8" Weight: 174 lbs Class: Senior 40 time: 4.53 All-Star Game: Senior Bowl Team Captain: No Draft Projection: Late 2nd – Early 3rd Round

Summary

Titus Young is a very good split-prospect that excels stretching the field vertically. After two extremely productive seasons for the Broncos, he appears to be capable of contributing readily as a receiver and kick returner at the next level. He has been one of the stars of the draft process, with an excellent week at the Senior Bowl and a Pro Day that drew rave reviews from media members and NFL personnel. One of this draft’s most fluid movers, he shows the quickness, agility, and speed to be a threat all over the field. Concerns over his character and physicality will push Young down the board, but he should still find a Keep Reading…

Scouting Report: Patrick Peterson

Written by Ryan Lownes

Patrick Peterson

Position: CB School: LSU Height: 6’01/4" Weight: 219 lbs Class: Junior 40 time: 4.34 All-Star Game: n/a Team Captain: No Draft Projection: Top 10 Pick

Summary

Patrick Peterson will undoubtedly be a player who inspires debate over the worth of a Cornerback in today’s NFL. He is an elite physical specimen in the secondary, with size and incredible natural athleticism. The 2010 Thorpe Award winner competed against the nation’s best receivers, displaying the physicality and ball skills that will translate quickly to the next level. Some even consider him to be this draft’s top talent. The notion of a Cornerback going in the first three picks is often disputed by history, but many feel the position’s value is on the rise due to an increasingly pass-happy game. While he may not make history as the first corner to go first overall, Peterson appears a Keep Reading…

Scouting Report: Cam Newton

Written by Ryan Lownes

Cam Newton

Position: QB School: Auburn Height: 6’5" Weight: 248 lbs Class: Junior 40 time: 4.56 All-Star Game: n/a Team Captain: No Draft Projection: Top 5 Pick

Summary

Perhaps the most widely discussed prospect in the 2011 NFL Draft, Cam Newton will be drafted with the hopes of becoming a franchise passer. His one year of starting experience was one of the most dramatic in recent memory, as he led his Auburn team to a National Championship victory amidst serious NCAA allegations. He burst on to the scene as a tremendous physical talent who soon began carving SEC defenses with his legs and arm. His efforts in only one season made him the landslide winner in the Heisman Trophy race. A subject of much criticism, Newton has held up well, displaying remarkable mental toughness. On draft day, expect him off the board very early. While he Keep Reading…

Three Round Mock Draft – March 13th

Written by Ryan Lownes
Carolina Panthers

1. Carolina Panthers Cam Newton – QB – Auburn

The decision-making process behind the first overall pick could last up to the day of the draft for Carolina. The list of needs for the Panthers is a long one that includes several key positions such as: Defensive End, Defensive Tackle, Cornerback, and Wide Receiver. The team’s Achilles heel a year last season, however, was the play at the Quarterback position. Jimmy Clausen did not prove himself enough to deter the Panthers from taking the top QB on their board. Even after a disappointing Combine performance, Cameron Newton has the upside to be a franchise signal-caller. His college resume is a small but highly decorated one and his physical tools are unparalleled. He’ll need some time to develop, but Newton offers the franchise a true face and unique talent moving forward. Carolina may decide that Cam is too risky Keep Reading…
