Alabama running back Mark Ingram was named the 75th winner of the Heisman Trophy tonight. This is the 2nd straight season a sophomore has been the recipient of the award. Ingram won the award on the heels of a dominate performance against Florida in the SEC Championship game. Florida came into the game with the #1 ranked defense in the nation, and Ingram exploited their weaknesses. Ingram finished the game with 28 carries for 113 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. Ingram was also a threat receiving the ball, catching 2 passes for 76 yards, one of which went for 69 yards. First USC Senior running back Stafon Johnson suffered a major throat injury in a weight lifting accident. Now he has decided that he won’t return for another year at USC and will enter the NFL Draft instead. Steve Wyche of NFL.com reports that Johnson could have taken a medical red shirt for his senior season and returned to USC as a 5th year Senior. However, after talking things over with USC Head Coach Pete Carroll, Johnson has decided that now is the time to make the transition to the NFL. Johnson currently sits at #13 in our running back rankings and will more than likely be a later round selection. He is reportedly hoping for an invitation to the Senior Bowl where he can show that he has fully recovered from his accident. If Johnson does attend, Draft Breakdown will be there to keep you up to speed at how Keep Reading…

Golden Tate
WR – Notre Dame Junior 5’11″ 194 lbs
Just as expected, Golden Tate will announce today that he’ll enter the NFL Draft as well, according to a recent Twitter entry by Adam Schefter of ESPN. No surprise here. Head coach gone, starting quarterback gone, time for the star wide receiver to leave as well. Tate is projected as a first round draft pick at this point but due to his size, the combine will be very important.

Jimmy Clausen
QB – Notre Dame Junior 6’3″ 223 lbs
Following the firing of Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis, quarterback Jimmy Clausen has announced that he will skip his senior season and enter the 2010 NFL Draft per ESPN.com. This is great news for draftniks as the senior class of quarterbacks has been anything but impressive this season. Both Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow played relatively poorly in their conference championship games, making way for Clausen to be the top rated quarterback in the draft at this point. Fans should expect Notre Dame wide receiver Golden Tate to also declare for the NFL Draft after his quarterback made this announcement.
