Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford is to have season ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday and is expected not to return for his senior season. Bradford, regarded as a potential #1 overall pick, will address the media on Monday evening and is expected to announce his decision to enter the NFL draft. Rookie Reviews: Week 6

The final scores are in the books and Draft Breakdown is here to update you on how some of the top rookies in the 2009 draft performed in week 6 of the NFL season. Brian Cushing – LB – Texans Cushing is quietly having a very strong rookie season for Houston. This week, the Texans matched up with a Bengals team that had been on a winning streak. Cushing sealed a Houston victory with an interception on the Bengals final drive in the 4th quarter, and added 9 tackles and 2 forced fumbles to his stat totals. Clay Matthews – OLB – Packers Another former Trojan defender, Matthews is starting to get comfortable in his role for the Packers. Every week, Draft Breakdown will bring you three standout players from “small” schools. We’ll cover a player from Division 1-AA, Division II and Division III. Here are this weeks spotlight players.

Division I-AA

Kyle Frazier QB – Monmouth Sophomore 6’3″ 230 lbs

Monmouth QB Kyle Frazier had a huge week for the Hawks, leading them to a 42-20 victory over Sacred Heart. Frazier threw the ball all over the field, going 18 of 24 for 322 yards, 4 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Division II

Quinton Andrews S – North Alabama Senior 5’11″ 206 lbs

Senior safety Quinton Andrews was an absolute defensive force this week against Delta State. The former West Virginia University defensive back recorded 18 total tackles, forced 2 fumbles, recovered a fumble and had a key 40 yard interception returned for a touchdown in the 34-24 victory.

SEC suspends officiating crew

The SEC has officially suspended the officiating crew that worked the Florida – Arkansas game on Saturday, stating that the crew has now had it’s second controversial call of the season. Officials called a back breaking personal foul penalty on Arkansas’ Malcolm Sheppard and after further review, the SEC believes there was no evidence to support the call. Ryan Kerrigan

DE – Purdue Junior

Ryan Kerrigan has received the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski Defensive Player of the week award. Kerrigan led the Boilermaker defense to an upset victory over Big-10 rival Ohio State this week. The junior recorded nine tackles, four of which were for a loss, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in the win. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be presented to the best defensive player in college football on Dec. 7. Last season, Texas DE Brian Orakpo was the recipient of the end of season award.
