Summary

JJ Watt has seen his stock soar after he quietly dominated the combine. Most people assumed he was only an average athlete coming into the combine, and after the combine shot up most draftniks boards. He put together a fairly dominating season at DE for the Badgers, and had his best performances in big games. He is scheme versatile and has the length, strength, athleticism, and hand quickness and ability to disengage from blockers you look for in a 3-4 end, and also the pass rushing abilities of a 4-3 end. Watt ultimately looks to be one of the safer defensive picks in the draft.

Summary

Shane Vereen is a running back that is climbing higher up draft boards as draft day approaches. A well-rounded player, Vereen is quick, powerful, and uses his compact frame to his advantage. While not a burner, Vereen is fast enough to hit the edge when needed, and shows good elusiveness in the open field. Buried behind a long line of great running backs at Cal, he used the 2010 season as his major coming out party. He is a one cut and go runner, who’s best fit may be behind a zone blocking line. Vereen should easily be off the board by the end of round 3, and a jump into the 2nd round could be possible.

Other than I’m quick out of my stance, I have long (35”) arms that I create leverage with by locking out on an Offensive Lineman creating a hard point at the end of the line.

Cons- If any, it would be that I need to further refine my technique of after extension while playing the run to not be too quick to shed blocks.

Summary

Few college players have to deal with the kind of expectations that awaited Da’Quan Bowers upon arriving at Clemson. It took him a couple years to figure it out and really come into his own as a college player, but he burst onto the national scene in explosive fashion this past year. Rarely will you find such a physically gifted player produce the way Bowers did this past year. An incredible Junior season has the former five-star recruit thinking Top 5 in the upcoming NFL Draft. What sets him apart is his ability to rush the passer and stop the run equally well; he projects as a three-down end with excellent versatility in 4-3 schemes.
