Rookie Reviews: Week 2

Written by Will Spencer

The final scores are in the book and Draft Breakdown is here to update you on how some of the top rookies in the 2009 draft performed in week 2 of the NFL season. Eric Wood and Andy Levitre – OGs – Bills Gotta give some love to the offensive linemen. The Bills have been heavily criticized this year for starting so many new players on the o-line. This week, the Bills young guards dominated the line of scrimmage against Tampa Bay. Buffalo racked up 438 total yards of offense which included 218 rushing yards and 220 passing yards in their 33-20 win. Johnny Knox – WR – Bears After a poor performance the week before against the Packers, not many expected the Bears to beat the defending Super Bowl Champions this week. In the pouring rain, the speedy WR from Abilene-Christian grabbed 6 passes for 70 yards and a Keep Reading…

With big wins against Florida State and Georgia Tech, the Miami Hurricanes are on quite a roll. Could their new-found confidence be providing alumni of “The U” with motivation to perform on Sunday? If today was any indication, Reggie Wayne is bound to have a huge Monday night. Here’s a look at some top NFL performers who went to the school known as “The U.” Andre Johnson – WR – Houston Texans Johnson had a huge day against the Tennessee Titans, finishing with 10 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns…including a 72 yarder. Frank Gore – RB – San Fransisco 49ers Another gigantic performance by a former Hurricane. Gore, or “The Inconvenient Truth,” as Rich Eisen prefers, ran the ball 16 times for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns (79 and 80). Gore also provided 39 receiving yards in the 49ers victory. Willis McGahee – RB – Baltimore Ravens Keep Reading…

Tebow not showing his NFL potential

Written by Will Spencer

Tim Tebow

QB – Florida Senior

When Florida QB Tim Tebow decided to stay for his senior season, many were surprised. Those in NFL circles, however, were not. Had Tebow declared for the NFL draft as after his junior season, most experts agreed that Tebow had almost zero chance to be a first round pick. With an awkward throwing motion, a high tendency to tuck and run, as well as coming from a very option-heavy offense, Tebow wasn’t ready to transition into the NFL. After Tebow announced he would stay at Florida for his senior season, word out of Gainesville was that the Gators were bringing in a quarterback “specialist” to help Tebow ready his game for the NFL. In fact, head coach Urban Meyer even indicated that the Gators would be running more of a “pro-style” offense to help with the development of Tebow as a quarterback. Throughout Keep Reading…

Rookie Reviews: Week 1

Written by Will Spencer

The final scores are in the book and Draft Breakdown is here to update you on how some of the top rookies in the 2009 draft performed in their NFL debuts. Mark Sanchez – QB – Jets If I had to decide, this would be the rookie of the week. Sanchez led the Jets into Houston and looked more like a 3 year veteran QB under center. The former USC signal caller finished the game 18 of 31 with 272 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception, giving him a QB rating of 84.3. Even though Sanchez threw a pick that led to a touchdown, he bounced back and helped the Jets drive down the field for another score. Kenny Britt – WR – Titans Britt had the early jump on the competition, playing in a nationally televised game on Thursday night…that just happened to be against the defending Super Bowl Keep Reading…

2009 Season Preview: Defense

Written by Rob Engle

Highlighted by the Defensive Tackle position, the 2010 Defensive Class is very top heavy. There doesn’t appear to be a whole lot of depth past the first couple of rounds. Luckily, there are quite a few talented Underclassmen that are expected to declare, which could make the first two rounds the most talented in the past five years. This preview will look mainly at the DEFENSIVE SENIORS.

Defensive Ends-

Carlos Dunlap (Florida) is a junior but still probably the best DE of this class, possessing tremendous size, speed, and strength. For the seniors, though, the group is led by Greg Hardy (Ole Miss) and Corey Wooten (Northwestern). Both are well-rounded defensive ends that will push for first round spots.

Draft Breakdown Top 10

1. Greg Hardy | Ole Miss 2. Corey Wooten | Northwestern 3. Brandon Graham | Michigan 4. George Selvie | Keep Reading…
