Junior safety Kenny Tate has received the Bronko Nagurski Defensive Player of the Week award. Tate recorded a career high 12 tackles in the match up with Navy this week, including a game winning tackle at the goal line with 34 seconds left in the game. Tate also forced two fumbles, including one when Navy was threatening to score inside the Maryland 5 yard line.


The Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be presented to the best defensive player in college football on Dec. 6. Last year, Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh was the recipient of the end of season award.
