I have half embraced the Texans since they became a team a few years back (mostly because my Raiders have sucked since 2003). But I was wondering if anyone else has thought that a offense is a bigger need than given? Schaub just had a career year, but he has no history of being healthy and just seems like a product in a great offensive system. I'm not saying that the Texans need a top drafted QB, but maybe an insurance policy in the mid-late rounds like John Skelton (although I think he will be a 3-4th rounder when it's said and done), Ryan Perriloux, or even (gulp) Colt McCoy.
I think that with a power runningback, a WR2 and maybe even a slot receiver the team becomes a 12-win team over the next two seasons. Let's pencil this draft out (give or take a lot of things obviously):
1st: Taylor Mays, S
2nd: Brandon LaFell, WR
3rd: Toby Gerhart, RB
4th: Freddie Barnes, WR,
5th: John Skelton,QB
6thA: Best DL/DB available
6thB: Best OL available
7th: Best DL/DB available
^Or some version of that^. I think this adds a ton of potential and firepower to the offense, it provides a major need in safety, and depth on the back end never hurts. Just an idea
