Miami was 9th in sacks and 1st in TFL in the country last year under new DL coach Rick Petri. Bailey was on a DL that constantly rotated guys with the 2nd line probably playing a third of the game. For Bailey not playing the right position, he came to Miami because the coaches promised him a shot at LB (the position he wanted to play). He started his junior year at DT before moving out to end because of depth issues.
I don’t think Bailey will ever be a consistent edge rusher because he doesn’t have a great football IQ, but knocking his stats and the coaching staff from Miami aren’t great reasons. If Bailey could figure out how to anticipate the snap (his first step is solid when get actually gets off the ball), he could be scary. Until then he’s a 6-8 sack guy who can stack the edge.
