Sorry but the description you put for why the Patriots take Dont’a Hightower is 100% incorrect. I can see them taking Hightower but not because, “Spikes has not stood out since going to New England.” Spikes has actually been one of the top performers on their defense. He provides a spark to the defense and plays with a mean attitude, which is what the defense needs. He is starting to become a true play maker.

@Shawn I probably should not have worded the Chiefs’ explanation as I did. Cornerback is only a need if the team cannot re-sign Brandon Carr. From an outsiders perspective though, they are very small at the position with 5’9″ Flowers and 5’8-9″ Javier Arenas. Kirkpatrick at 6’2-3″ is a guy that can man up against anyone and support the run from the CB position. As you mentioned, they could prefer a lineman there. OT Jonathan Martin and OG David DeCastro are two that will generate interest with that eleventh pick. WR could be a huge need also, depending on Dwayne Bowe.

@barky43 Burfict an unlikely fit to a team that emphasizes character in their draft picks. Certainly possible they opt for an ILB over OT, but I don’t think Burfict would be the guy there. His play dropped off late this season and he has a tendency to play overly emotional. Adams was a fit due to their needs along the offensive line and their proclivity for Buckeyes. Alfonzo Dennard (CB – Nebraska) is another they’d consider with that pick.

I agree with JMC. Ryan you made reference to our a week secandary. I strongly disagree. I believe the Chiefs defence overall is one of the strongest in the NFL. They need to resign Carr. This gives them the ability to go one on one and open it up for the linebackers to mix up blitzes. They need to focus on improving the offence which starts at the line. It was horable last season.

Struggles only to stay healthy this past year because Eric Berry suffered a season ending injury early on. In reality, the Chiefs only go CB if Brandon Carr does choose to go elsewhere in free agency. For the 11th overall pick, it all depends on what happens with Bowe and Carr. If both stay, right tackle has to be an area to consider an upgrade as Barry Richardson cannot be counted on as a starter.

That’s an odd statement considering that most analysts say that KC has one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Kirkpatrick might make sense because Brandon Carr may elect to leave as a free agent, but certainly not because the secondary struggled.
