NDT Scouting NFL Draft Prospectus Outline

Written by Kyle Crabbs on March 28, 2016

So you’re looking for a draft guide. Maybe you’re looking for some light reading material, looking for some kind of perspective of who your team selects in April, or maybe you’re just new to the NFL Draft guide scene. Don’t worry; so am I. This year marks the third consecutive season I’ve complied a NFL Draft Guide; my third annual NFL Draft Prospectus releases on Friday; April 1st.

What is the Prospectus? How do I evaluate players? That’s what I’m here to answer now.

Q. What is the Prospectus?

A. The Prospectus is a collection of 300 scouting reports, each one on an individual player in this year’s NFL Draft class. The Prospectus is a .PDF document available for purchase at www.ndtscouting.com for $10.00. The fine folks here at Draftbreakdown have been very gracious to offer me this platform to share some of my reports, add additional Draft commentary when my schedule allows and utilize the best damn draft site in the world to help offer my work to those interested.

Q. How do you evaluate players for the Prospectus?

A. I am very lucky to have a number of avenues available to me as a means of scouting players. Draftbreakdown is one of my primary resources. I also have a handful of contacts that will provide me with All-22 film in some instances. I do my absolute best to provide due diligence to each and every player on the board.

Q. So what makes the Prospectus unique?

A. View the Prospectus and the reports included as a marriage of two worlds: The film world and the metric world. Each and every report in the Prospectus puts a player through a thorough and in depth evaluation process; weighting a majority of the evaluation to the film side of work but also supplementing the film with smaller weighted metrics in four categories: Size, Leadership (experience), Production and Athleticism. These metrics have been formed using historical data from the Combine and statistical quantification of how to score a player’s performance in a number of areas. Long story short; the Prospectus paints the MOST detail oriented NFL Draft evaluations on the market. We may not tell you how many sacks a player had as a sophomore in high school; but we will eliminate as much bias from a Draft evaluation as humanly possible.

Q. Why should we care what your opinion is on the Draft?

A. I’m a student of the game. I’ve played HS and semi-professional football (missed out on college due to an injury) and followed that effort up with 2 years of coaching before transitioning into the Draft evaluation realm. I’ve been scouting the Draft in some capacity since 2010 and have run NDT Scouting since it’s inception in 2013. Since then I have been welcomed to the East/West Shrine Game, the Reese’s Senior Bowl and been a credentialed guest at FBS contests in 3 of the 5 Power Conferences. I’ve also been a guest on a number of NFL media avenues to discuss the Draft, including guest spots on ESPN Radio, Yahoo! Sports Radio and Sirius NFL XM Radio. This has become more than just a passion; but a full on way of life. I have evaluated 928 prospects from the 2014 NFL Draft class to today and my knowledge and awareness of the game grows each and every day.

Q. Who is included in this year’s Draft Prospectus?

A. That’s a great question. This year’s roster includes the following players:
