Dre Kirkpatrick
|
Summary
Kirkpatrick has tremendous size and the ability to be a Pro Bowl player at the next level, if he winds up with a team that runs mainly zone coverages. The production level and consistency somehow goes unnoticed, but Dre has been a high quality corner for some time now. Aggressive, long-armed and savvy, Kirkpatrick will be able to make an immediate impact for any NFL team as a corner and could even transition to safety at some point in his career.
Strengths
Ideal size. Uses long arms when in press situations to jam the receiver. Fluid hips, can turn and run with most receivers. At his best when in zone coverage and the play is in front of him. Plants foot and explodes towards the ball on underneath routes and run plays. Excellent in run support. Willing and aggressive tackler. Flies to the ball. Physical and wins most jump ball situations. Has a good bit of special teams experience.
Weaknesses
Straight line speed is not ideal. Can get caught guessing routes but was able to recover more often than not. Long/tall player than will have trouble staying with smaller, quicker receivers. Too often arm tackles or goes for the big hit. Only average ball skills. Arrested for marijuana possession in January.
