An overall solid wide receiver, Blackmon is a sure-fire starter in the NFL. He won’t blow you away with his speed but is physical with strong hands. Blackmon has shown consistent production at Oklahoma State and could have left school as a junior but decided to stay for his senior season. He was arrested for DUI in 2010, so teams will have to take that into consideration.
Good size. Physical when going for the ball. Uses his body well to shield defender away from the ball. Strong hands. Fights for the ball and solid leaping ability. Not afraid to work the middle but usually was lined up outside. Strong runner after the catch and uses his size/strength to shake tacklers. Effective and willing blocker.Excellent and beating the press. Good ball skills (tracking over the shoulder, specifically). Excellent and consistent production against solid competition.
Had his share of drops when anticipating a hit and will sometimes make body catches. Timed speed is not ideal and neither is play speed. Relies on strength and savvy rather than quickness and athleticism. Limited separation ability due to speed issues. DUI arrest in 2010 and high ankle sprain in 2010 are items to be further examined.
