Lucas Nix
|
Scouting Report written by: Andrew Parsons
Summary
Nix has experience as a guard and tackle, but is likely to be limited solely to the guard spot in the NFL. Nix has some technique issues that desperately need to be cleaned up. However, he has some promising traits. He warrants a mid-round selection as someone who can potentially be a starter down the line.
Strengths
Nix shows the natural quickness of the snap and is mostly consistent in coming off the ball low and keeping good pad level. He moves well, maintains good balance, and showcases an above average ability to mirror pass rushers. Looks very good on down blocks and plays with an impressive mean streak. He is also more athletic than I expected.
Weaknesses
Nix is plagued by inconsistent technique. He is very inconsistent in his initial punch and hand placement on the defender which allows defenders the easily disengage from his blocks. This technique issue also forces him to be more of a catcher. Nix also too frequently overextends and drops his head down which allows him to be beaten.
