Junior quarterback Kellen Moore of Boise State has been named the Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week. Moore completed 23 of 38 passes for 215 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Moore led the Broncos to victory with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Austin Pettis with 1:09 to play against #10 Virginia Tech.
Other quarterbacks receiving votes this week were; Dominique Davis (East Carolina), Andrew Luck (Stanford), Cam Newton (Auburn), Terrelle Pryor (Ohio State), Denard Robinson (Michigan) and T.J. Yates (North Carolina).
During the first eight weeks of the season, a subset of The O’Brien National Selection Committee will name The O’Brien Quarterback of the Week, given to a player who exemplifies the award’s standards. All 120 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) quarterbacks are candidates for the award until Semifinalists are announced Oct. 25. Finalists will be announced Nov. 22 and the 2010 O’Brien Winner will be announced Dec. 9.
