Strengths
Terrific height and weight distribution with room to grow. Seems to have natural hands. Decent route runner but could do a lot better. Pretty athletic and fluid. Very underrated blocker and possibly the best of the top tight end prospects. Good in run after the catch and will break tackle and carry people. Scored a 22 on the Wonderlic.
Weaknesses
Has some character concerns and reportedly tested positive for marijuana at the combine and has a reputation for being self absorbed. Blocking is still inconsistent. Only 2 years of experience. Route running needs improvement but should be fine until it’s tweaked. Didn’t score very much.
Analysis
He didn’t have that many catches in 2009, but he averaged more than 20 yards per catch showing his unusual big play ability for a TE. He’ll probably make some team happy as long as he stays out of trouble, but it’s not likely that he’ll be an elite player. Solid starter is his ceiling and solid backup his floor.
Experience
Two year starter at USC.
