Explanation of Player Grading System

A big, physical safety with a lot of experience in a prestigious conference (SEC). He’s a good tackler and can hit like a linebacker. He’s got good straight line speed. Very solid in run support. Really looks the part. Good instincts and recognition ability.

He isn’t great in coverage and won’t be asked to play deep coverage very often. He doesn’t have great range and won’t cover much ground if he makes a mistake in coverage. Lacks ball skills and good hands so he won’t make many interceptions. Man to man coverage isn’t great either.

He’s probably only a Strong Safety at the next level and if he’s asked to play shallow coverage and in the box he could be very successful. Just don’t ask him to stay deep and try to read the QB’s eyes. He’s very physical and likes to be around the action a lot. Because of his experience and size with decent athletic ability, he should be a mid round pick and probably contribute on special teams for his first few seasons.

Stewart is a three year starter at South Carolina.
