Explanation of Player Grading System

Excellent height/weight combo. Strong and locks long arms onto defenders (34″). Fires off the ball at the snap. Can completely man-handle smaller defensive lineman. Finishes blocks. Loves the pancake blocks. Handles most one on one bull rushers with ease. Good overall awareness. Excellent production and experience. Good bloodlines. Wide body guy with a large wingspan. Has experience playing right tackle and guard.

Bends at the waist too often. Doesn’t have the mean streak you’d like to see from a man with his stature. Can get beat by quicker, gap shooting linemen. Footwork can get sloppy and has a hard time getting to the next level, especially on quick linebackers. Can get sluggish at times.

Jerry could make a nice starting tackle in the NFL but needs to be in the right system. He’s not the type that will quickly get out on screen passes or get out on the linebackers on most plays, but can handle straight line blocking with ease. He’s massive and has a huge wingspan, so he can cover a lot of ground in the middle. Has the experience and versatility to play right tackle in a pinch, but will find his home at guard in the NFL.

Four year starter at Ole Miss.
