Scouting Report: Linval Joseph
Non-position specific categories
Defensive Line Specific Categories
Great size and length – especially for a 3-4 end. A lot of functional strength. Shoots out of his stance and has the power to knock people back. Can beat double teams. Good hand placement and plays with good leverage. Equally good pass rusher and run stuffer. Anchors and slides well.
Not very quick or fast and he won’t beat anyone with speed moves. Average at getting off blocks. Not a great tackler. Average awareness and instincts. Very raw and doesn’t use great technique. Plays high and needs to keep his pad level down.
He was one of the fast risers leading up to the draft after showing off his brute strength and power at the combine. He has a ton of potential and he could play in any scheme (4-3 DT, or 3-4 End or NT). A long term project with skills that could still allow him to produce early in his career.
Two year starter at East Carolina.
Awards and Honors
Communications major at East Carolina.
No known history of injuries.
