Strengths
A very strong runner that keeps his legs moving. Doesn’t go down on initial contact and always seems to fall forward. Good balance and body control. Vision is by far his best quality. Runs with patience but hits the hole quickly when he finds a crease. Will explode through the line. Doesn’t dance or hesitate. Solid receiver out of the backfield. Smashes through arm tackles. Average elusiveness.
Weaknesses
Not a true threat outside the tackles and won’t run away from a defense. Not a home run hitter. Though he’s willing, he needs to work on his skills as a pass blocker. Will run upright at times and is prone to taking big hits. Has a serious injury history and knees are going to be a problem for him. Production was very limited at UT, mainly due to injuries. Really only had one very good season in 5 years with the Vols.
Analysis
If Hardesty can stay healthy, he could quite possibly have a very good career ahead of himself. However, health is a serious concern. He’s had issues from his ankle to his knees, which are the biggest problem for him. Hardesy is a solid between the tackles runner and will make a nice complimentary back for a team that has a speedy, outside the tackles runner.
Experience
Hardesty is a one year starter at Tennessee.
