Strengths
Perfect size, speed combination. An extremely aggressive safety who makes big hits and big plays consistently. Has a lot of experience despite only being a Junior. Has great ball skills and made a lot of spectacular catches. Excels in coverage and doesn’t get beat deep often. Classic center fielder and he anticipates throws pretty well. Didn’t suffer any significant injuries in college. Can cover a lot of ground quickly.
Weaknesses
May be overaggressive at times and takes poor angles. A lot of his interceptions came from weaker competition or teams with bad QB play. and he always had a fantastic pass rush in front of him. May not have a lot to improve on and may have nearly reached his potential. Made some mental mistakes at key times in the game.
Analysis
Probably should have stayed in school another year because of the depth of this safety class, Burnett is a great talent and will probably make an impact early on. There’s not a lot that you can dislike the guy for because he’s very talented but just might need some more mental maturity before he’s ready to make a big impact. His size, speed, and production will get him drafted fairly early but don’t expect him to start from day 1. If he reaches his potential and really learns the game, could be a steal in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Experience
Burnett is a two year starter at Georgia Tech.
