Reed plays with average strength as he sometimes gets stuck on blocks. He needs to do a better job of stacking and shedding off blocks. He needs to get stronger and get better at pushing the blockers back off the line of scrimmage. Reed also needs to do a better job of maintaining his balance when rushing the passer. His football intelligence seems to be average as well. He shows that he can diagnose the play in front of him, but needs to be more active with his hands on run blocks and show more of a plan rushing the passer. Reed seems to rely on his athletic ability too much and needs to combine his ability with more technique. His play speed is average for a defensive end in a four three scheme. He does flash the ability to shoot through the gap, but you don’t see a bend and burst player on the West Virginia film. His mental & physical toughness seems to be good when watching him. It should be noted that Reed played with a tear in his meniscus in the 2014 season. He also looks to have a good competitive nature as he plays the same speed on every play and doesn’t seem to be a loafer.
