Smith has better than normal play speed at safety. He demonstrates perfect body control in coverage(loose hips). Smith shows to have the necessary toughness to play the run. He is not afraid to jump in on a pile and mix it up. He has good hands for the interception. Plays with confidence and it shows on film. Has an intense desire to compete as evidence by still running with a high motor when the game has already been decided. He is a student of the game that always seems to be in good position and knows his assignments. While he can’t be labeled a great tackler, smith is a wrap up tackler who isn’t afraid to throw his body on the ball carrier. Seems to be a calculated risk taker. Will stay over the top of receivers and jump in front of routes when he see’s a chance. Smith also has special teams experience which adds to his value. Looks like the honey badger at safety(ball hawk).
