Fowler displays the ability to carry the ball in short yardage situations. He secures the ball well for a full back and also showed good patience and burst going through the hole. He has the ability to jump cut in order to avoid defenders which is surprising considering his size. Fowler’s preferred method of blocking in the hole is to lunge and use his shoulder pads to lower the boom on defenders. He may need to work on this technique on the next level for his longevity and the quickness of defenders. In pass protection he was seen to push the blitzer to the outside of the pocket. He will need to work on catching the ball, as he was seen to drop the easy pass in the flat on the Michigan tape. Fowler shows mental and physical toughness by showing a willingness towards contact. It also should be noted that he came back from season ending injury in his college career. Fowler shows the desire to compete for the whole game.

Jalston Fowler in this clip was very raw and this was nearly 3 years ago. All I have seen from him is improvement and the willingness to get better every game and every season he has played in Alabama. I have even seen some clips of him playing FB, RB, being on special teams, and to me what more do you want in a player? He is a TEAM player, and one that the NFL could use for along time. Great draft steal for whichever team gets him.
